Yes, we stand by our products and have a 10-year limited warranty on the fibreglass shell of each bath.
Do you sit in the walk-in bath as it fills?
Yes, you walk in, sit down, close the door, turn on the tap and wait for that lovely warm water to start flowing.
Where do the taps go?
For each bath, we recommend a thermostatic mixer tap be used. This can be installed in the wall next to the bath, within easy reach of the user, or on the top surface of the bath.
How much water does it take to fill the walk-in baths?
Our baths take a similar volume of water to a traditional lie-down bath, but are a much more comfortable way to submerge yourself. With an average person sitting in the bath, the Rotorua takes approximately 170 litres of water and the Waiwera approximately 200 litres. A bigger person will require less water to fill the bath.
How do you stop people from scalding themselves?
We recommend you install a thermostatic mixer to control the temperature of the incoming water. Domestic water temperatures should reach no more than 55 deg Centigrade. NZ houses built over the last 20 years or so will have a tempering valve near the hot water cylinder to ensure water temperatures are not too high. Your local plumber will be able to help you with the best solution for your situation.
How long does it take for the walk-in baths to fill?
This depends on the water pressure in the house where the bath is to be installed and how full you choose to fill the bath. With mains pressure, the baths take seven or eight minutes to fill, at approx 25 litres per minute. If you do not have mains pressure, you might consider installing a small pump to increase the water flow and reduce the time the bath takes to fill. We can supply a pump if you need one.
How long does it take for the walk-in baths to empty?
Again, this depends on your plumbing and pipe sizes. It takes about the same time as a standard bath, five minutes or so.
How do you stop the doors opening once the walk-in bath is filled?
Once the inward-opening Rotorua is filled, you can unfasten the handle and the door still remains closed because of the water pressure against it. The outward-opening Waiwera can have a different handle fitted which reduces the likelihood of opening the door by mistake.
Can I wash my hair in the walk-in bath?
You certainly can. You might like to install a shower head over the bath or a retractable shower head in the top surface of the bath. Or you could just submerge your head in the bath itself.
How do I reach the plug when the walk-in bath is full of water?
Our baths are supplied with a pop-up, mechanical plug. This is opened and closed by twisting the overflow mechanism which sits above the highest level of the water so you don't have to reach to the bottom of the bath to operate it. This can be fitted as a lever for ease of operation if preferred. If your piping allows, you might choose to have two plugs so the water can leave the bath more quickly.
Once I've ordered my walk-in bath, how long will it take before it's delivered?
Because our baths are made to order, allowing you to choose your colour and customise the bath to suit you exactly, we suggest you allow a delivery time of about four weeks. If you need the bath faster than that, let us know when you order and we'll see what we can do.
Can I choose where to have my grab rails?
Yes. The walls of our baths are reinforced so that you can choose where to have the rails fitted where you choose, including on the top of the door of the Waiwera.
Tell me more about the spa system.
If you choose, you can have up to 24 air blowers installed in your walk-in bath, turning it into an easily accessible and safe spa bath. Air blowers are a clean method of providing spa bubbles as they don't leave water stagnating in pipes between baths.
What size are the walk-in baths?
Both our walk-in baths are shorter in length than a traditional lie-down bath. Their exact dimensions can be seen on our
products page.
How high is the seat?
The seat height of the Rotorua is 400mm and the Waiwera is 420mm. An average dining room chair is 460-480mm high. The depth (front to back) of the seat in each bath is 350mm, and the width is between 540-550mm. Again, further measurements can be seen on our
products page.
Do I have to have a white bath?
You can if you like, but because we make each bath to order, you can choose exactly what colour you want. We can match to your existing bathroom, or we can match to your favourite football team, we don't mind.
What are the baths made of?
Our baths have a fibreglass shell, finished with gelcoat. These products are uniformly thick over the surface of the bath, providing a smooth, comfortable surface to sit on. They are thermosetting products, that is they do not change shape as they are heated, so your bath will not warp as you add hot water to it. Fibreglass is an insulator, so your bath water will stay warmer than in an equivalent-sized iron or acrylic bath
